Reflections on History, Theology, and Culture

About

I serve as Associate Professor of Church History and Intercultural Studies at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary of Liberty University and direct the Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies program there. I completed a PhD in Historical Theology at the University of Wales-Lampeter and am presently working on a PhD in Missiology at the University of Pretoria. Aside from teaching, I enjoy doing research and writing in the areas of early Christian and intercultural studies and my books include Augustine as Mentor and Early Christianity in North Africa (a translation of Francois Decret's French original). Over the past twenty years, I have worked with a variety of ministries (youth, international students, worship, media) while serving the church in North America, France, and North Africa. Since 1999, I have been married to Shawn (Davis) Smither and we have three children: Brennan, Emma, and Eve. As a family, we enjoy hiking, riding bikes, watching movies, exploring the North Carolina Outer Banks, and suffering as Washington Redskins fans.
